September series
So now we move onto late summer/early fall. You'll see fewer pictures of our little girl, because she rarely sits still for a picture now. She's busy running and talking (we've got a spreadsheet of 51 words so far - what, doesn't everyone keep a spreadsheet of their toddler's words?) and we are busy chasing after her, so it's hard to get many shots. Here she is "helping" dada fill the bird feeder.
One of Erica's best words (in her daddy's mind) is "TOUCHDOWN!" In the photo below she has just moved from her touchdown stance (hands up in the air like a U) to the safety stance, as is her normal process. This is proof that she is Nate's baby. In addition, she says "football" and "baseball" (Grandpa taught her that one). Nate couldn't be prouder. Next we are going to work on hockey words.
Here's a shot of Erica and her friend Elise after a hike up in the mountains. Can you see why it's hard to get a shot of her? She's so busy! Erica's the little one in back.
I coerced Erica to stand up on a stump and get a drink of juice from Dada. That's one of the keys to good photo ops. Put her somewhere that it's hard to get off of and offer her food or drink.
Look at our big girl! If you look close, you'll see that she is FILTHY! It was a cold hike. It snowed a little. She wasn't really dressed appropriately. We are bad parents, but in the end, everyone had fun, and no one got frostbite or anything!
Okay, all caught up now! On to fall!
What happened to summer?
All of a sudden it is fall, our baby is a little girl, and I haven't posted to the blog in 2 months. Knowing full well no one is looking at this anymore, I'll still post an update, as I still think someday I'll start making photo albums, and the posts help me to remember the daze of the last 16 months.
Erica, daddy and I spent my 35th birthday at the Denver Zoo. (Holy crap, I am OLD!) Erica had a great time visiting all the "balls". No, I'm not kidding. She sat at the zoo, with this enormous elephant in front of her blowing dust all over himself, saying "Ball! Ball!" and pointing to the ball the elephant can play with. Monkeys? "Ball!" Yes, Erica is fond of balls, and the Zoo is full of them. Nate says we'll take her to Sports Authority next time. It was a fun day though, and she did love the fish, penguins, bears and balls.
I don't know why, but I was obsessed with Erica the day that she ate her first nectarine, pit included. Normally I'm a good mom, and cut up her fruit, but this day I threw caution to the wind and handed her a whole nectarine. It was 20 minutes of fun for her, and a photo shoot for mom. I will only share two of my nectarine series with you, but know there are plenty more where these came from. Erica eating a nectarine inside the house...
and eating a nectarine outside the house.
Ah, if the pictures of us right after birth weren't enough proof, here is additional proof that this girl is my child. Note the unique sense of fashion (two completely different shoes, a skirt and a onesie). Note the love of crafts and yarn. Note the complete lack of modesty in the way she sits. Ah yes, that's my girl!
Oh, you want more proof? Here she is sitting on the flower pillow I made her, cracking open a Janet Evanovich book. I also have a shot of her "reading" Atlas Shrugged but it didn't turn out as well.
That completes the August pictures. Now I'll upload September's and get back up to date!
