Happy Halloween!

Well, Erica could have been Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde for Halloween. She was happy, she was MAD, she was sleepy. Wait, maybe she was all 7 of the dwarves for Halloween. She was grumpy, she was sneezy, she was sleepy, she was cranky.... Anywhoo.... here is a pictoral play by play of Erica's first Halloween.

Erica starting the day as a happy baby in her Halloween PJs.

In her "Mummy Loves Me" bodysuit that she wore under her bee costume in the morning.

Our first stop of the day was daycare, where they were having a parade of all the kids in their costumes. Erica was a little bee, complete with wings and a stinger.

After all the crazy parents took individual pictures of their kids, we took about 80 million group shots of the kids in their costumes. Erica held up for the first 32 million or so, and then started crying.

The kids (including unhappy Erica) were loaded into rolling cribs for the Halloween parade, and rolled all over the building. Here Erica is asking the gypsy how to escape from infant Halloween jail.

Oh, the end. Erica has had ENOUGH of Halloween parades, bee costumes, and she hates Skittles!

After the parade, I took Erica home, and changed her into her in her backup costume Grandma Dyanna got her: a tiger. I was too scarred by the breakdown at daycare to shove her back into the bee costume again so soon. Erica napped in the car on the way to some trick or treating at Daddy's office. It was her first time visiting there, and she was a big hit. She laughed and smiled, and was just a joy in general. Phew!

The day ended with some actual trick or treating in our neighborhood. We tried the bee costume again, without a long sleeve shirt underneath. It was 70 degrees when we went, so there was no danger of her freezing. (It will probably be her last nice Halloween until she's 12. The weather is never this nice in Colorado for Halloween.) Erica was a trooper and didn't have a breakdown, but she did fall asleep as her daddy carried her home, and he was stuck snuggling a little bee for an early evening nap.

The End. Happy Halloween!

Mmmm, spoon...

Sometime in the next few weeks, Erica is going to have her first taste of solid food. In order to get her ready, mom bought some spoons. Erica got to have one on Sunday while she was in her swing, and it was a big hit! She grabbed in and promptly shoved the right end in her mouth. It was upside down, but still, good job Erica! Next time maybe there will be rice cereal on the spoon, and then what will you do?

Mmmm, spoon. Now, why is Erica off center in this picture?

Yeah, she actually was chewing on the spoon while her swing was swinging. Something seems unsafe there, but she was happy so she swang and spooned away with her cube friend. The camera took surprisingly good pictures as she swayed from side to side.

Erica's First Race!

This Friday night I dressed Erica in her little bee costume and we went to a local Halloween race: the Scream Scram. It was her first 5k, and she did great! I found out that we need to get the jogging stroller maintained, since it pulled left the whole race. My friend Kelly stopped by the park before the race started, so we were able to get an unusual picture: Erica with her mom! Yay for Kelly. She didn't stay to do the race with us, because she ran the Denver Marathon this past weekend. Some excuse!

The race started, and as usual, as soon as we started moving Erica fell asleep. She slept through the whole race. As soon as we stopped running though, she was awake, and wondering why she was crammed in this puffy costume and a stroller.

We'll have more shots of Erica in her bee costume on Friday! In the meantime, happy early Halloween everyone! Bzzz....

A major milestone

This Sunday, Erica accomplished something every baby dreams of.

Hey, look at how close my feet are now. I think I might be able to eat them.

Oh gloriously chewy toes, how I love you.

Happy Monday everyone!

It's been awhile...

Erica's doing great, but we haven't posted any pictures in awhile. Here's a quick update on our five-month old big girl.
Erica in her little chair, eating a toy. Yum! She's sitting up really well now. We are still waiting for her second roll over. Her first time was over a month ago. Roll kid, roll!

Nate set up Erica's high chair, in preparation for her starting solid food next month. It still seems to be a little big for her at this point.

Erica loves her daddy.

These pants Grandma Dyanna got her are a little big still, even though they are 3-6 month size. As you can tell, she's trying to pull them down, so she doesn't look like such a dork.

Finally, Erica finally got introduced to the flower pillow her mom made her. Unfortunately, I still think the cats like it more than she does. She's cute though!

Happy Columbus Day everyone!
